You’re considering a career in photography. What skills should you focus on developing?

Before pushing that button, freeze into position, and take your eyes for a walk around the margins of the image in the viewfinder. That will help you re-calibrate in case someone's arm was out of the picture, or the head of that cool statue. We tend to focus on the center of our subject, forgetting about the rest of the image. Inhale before pushing the button, and push it while starting to exhale normally. If you push it while inhaling or while forcefully holding your breath, your arms are likely to shake. You can actually hold your breath, Avoid having the source of light in front of you. It should be lighting the subject, not you. Ideally, it should fall on your subject from somewhere in front of them, at an angle (30o-45o)

Pero es algo que se va desarrollando cuando estas ejerciéndolo, es decir, tienes que documentarte de como dominar todo lo técnico pero en el momento que lo llevas acabo, que lo pones en funcionamiento por ti mismo es cuando vas a entender y asimilar como puedes utilizar todas esas herramientas para lograr lo que quieres en cada momento.

Extra Elements, which are mainly outside of the regular process of taking a photo, and have plenty of space for interpretation. Creative minds always include some simplistic kind of work Intent, or the intentional use of extra elements. When taking photos, photographers always lack that extra creativity. This is why getting good camera exposure will never make a photo look or feel creative. But the intentional underexposing with a goal of getting a darker image does add an extra touch of creativity. When capturing a well exposed image of anything, no artist will consider it as a creative sample. If you're asking yourself why, you should know that it's because nothing outside of your normal photography workflow was used to take the image.

If you plan on being self employed, then this is one of the most important skills. There are some amazing photographers that aren't getting business because they haven't mastered sales and marketing. Take time to learn the skills and surround yourself with those that can help such as business coaches and marketing support.

This is probably the most underrated skill for ALL professionals, not just photographers. Develop your communication skills so every word you say delivers clarity. Cut out cluttering words and focus on the message. Try to formulate written or verbal phrases that would minimize incorrect interpretations. I personally heard that some photographers go into product photography because they are not "good with people." In my opinion, product photography requires even more communication skills than portrait photography as they will require multiple parties (e.g. editors, art directors, product designers, etc.) to collaborate. Learn to communicate better. It will elevate all aspects of your photography business.

In addition to honing technical, creative, business, communication, and learning skills for a photography career, also consider developing networking skills to connect with peers, mentors, and clients. Emphasize building a strong portfolio that showcases your unique style and expertise. Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements to keep your work relevant. Cultivate patience and perseverance, as building a successful photography career can take time. Lastly, practice critical thinking and problem-solving to creatively overcome challenges and adapt to client needs.
