How do you maintain healthy boundaries with your clients?

First priority is setting healthy boundaries from LinkedIn's AI generated questions. After that you should be ok. Mainly. Maybe.

To maintain healthy boundaries with clients, I focus on clear communication and professional conduct. I make sure to set expectations upfront regarding appointment times, payments, and the scope of the work to prevent misunderstandings. Keeping conversations professional and centered on the work helps build a supportive yet appropriate relationship. I also stick to my set working hours to protect my personal time and avoid burnout. When a client requests more than what we agreed on, I kindly remind them of the original plan or discuss adjustments so I don’t overextend myself. While I always practice empathy, I stay objective to maintain a balanced perspective and effective decision-making.
-
In my coaching approach, I see the client as the expert of their own world. I encourage the person to draw from their own resources, right from the start. It is never my goal to create a dependency on me as the coach. My role is to make myself unnecessary.
-
From the start, I ensure clients understand the coaching framework, highlighting that my role is to guide and empower, not to provide constant answers. This sets a foundation of shared understanding where they know they’re in the driver’s seat of their progress. I encourage clients to reflect and propose solutions. I might ask questions e.g, “What would you do if you had all the confidence in the world?” This helps them build the habit of self-reliance and sharpens their problem-solving skills.
-
Help clients build confidence by giving them small tasks to handle on their own. Set clear limits on when and how they can contact you. Remind them that coaching is about helping them become more independent.
