In civil engineering, grasping the project scope is fundamental. It involves outlining objectives, constraints, and stakeholder expectations. Recognizing legal, environmental, and social aspects is crucial. Defining success metrics early prevents conflicts, ensuring a smooth project journey.

1. Know what your client wants. What is their biggest obstacle? What is the primary problem they are asking you to solve? What are their pain points? 2. Have an attitude of a servant. You are here to serve your client, your internal project team, and your community. Show up with an attitude of service and gratitude. 3. Make a detailed plan for execution. Align your client's schedule with your own team's ability to execute. Detail out major milestones, review periods, write down potential stumbling blocks. Define your known unknowns. 4. Challenge yourself to learn beyond what you've been asked. Use the project as a growth opportunity. Do not commit to something you can't deliver, but look for ways to grow.

Every project is unique, you need to understand the project purpose and what it would require to achieve this and also how it is going to impact the environment. All these are important as they would guide your design process.

Create a comprehensive project plan outlining key tasks, milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation. Break down the project into manageable stages and develop a timeline for each phase. Build a strong project team: Assemble a skilled and experienced project team with diverse expertise to effectively execute the project. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities are assigned, and foster teamwork and collaboration among team members. Communicate effectively: Maintain open and effective communication with all project stakeholders, including clients, team members, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Provide regular updates, address concerns promptly, and ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.

Upon a scope definition, there is a need for gathering information required about the project, such maybe geotechnical report, climate report, records, laboratory tests reports, in some cases structural assessment reports, again consulting with experienced professionals in the field. All these will hep in providing a suitable design solution for the intended project.

After clearly understanding the scope. Carry out investigations of the project locality and research on best options that suits the project. These tasks will provide data required for design.

The following research to be performed: 1) Location of the project (exposure conditions). 2) Geotechnical Report. 3) survey report. 4) study design risks

Scope will guide you in establishing the location of the project, limiting data for design and embedding history to similar designs into your project

After collecting sufficient data, you can now go to the drawing board or use design sofwares for the design. The design is derived from the data collected.

Create a design based on project scope and research carried out in accordance to the applicable codes accepted in the project's region, to ensure a safe and sustainable design.

When vital data is at hand you can now develop concepts to suit the purpose of the project. The impacts of the projects needs to be accessed especially how economical it is to the stakeholders and environment.

Communication is a key impact in project delivery. Ensure all through the process all stakeholders and participants of the project are carried along, ensure everyone gets an idea of what is going on with the project and their responsibilities, share ideas and welcome feedbacks and suggestions. Collaborate efficiently with other professionals, participants and stakeholders. This helps in minimizing errors, avoid bottlenecks in the project life cycle and ensures good delivery of the project's objective

In actual sense stage presentations are necessary to avoid going off track from the detail of the project. Inception, concepts , and design are to be presented to clients, stakeholders and community which will host such a project.

Set Milestone Accomplishments with Expected Day. In other word scheduling your project tasks. In outsourcing required for any task, involve them earlier.

Cross checking necessary deatils in your design will ensure you communicate accurately to the implementer. The project thought should be the project design and the project built.

Identify focal person for RFIs. 6. Bring team to project implementation appreciation 6. Mobilize project resources other than human resources. 7. Execute project according to contract documentation and set standards. 8. Monitor And evaluate project progress at critical stages advising on improvements or sustainment. 9. Complete project and commission it. 10. Organize after action reviews (AAR) for lessons learnt and challenges encountered and what solutions applied. 11. Register success and wait for another project as an expert now.

You can review and refine the design to ensure it meets project's objectives in accordance with the industry codes and standard of practice.

Según mi experiencia... es un todo, desde conocer el proyecto, computarlo, cotizarlo previo realizar un plan de trabajo que contemple todo, y digo todo, contando con un checklist muy amplio del que se pueda seleccionar lo que aplica al desafío. Contar con todos los equipos intervinientes o tenerlos en carpeta, sin improvisar, delegar a ellos en caso de ser la empresa ejecutora con una dirección eficiente y control de gestión de todas las fases. Monitoreo y evitar desvíos, no olvidar los aspectos relativos a higiene y seguridad y calidad exigidos.
