You’re a Business Coaching professional. How do you stay ahead of the competition?

What has worked for me is not just niche; it is super niche. Since 15 years, I have been working with IT outsourcing and digital marketing organizations only. There are a number of coaches available who serve all sectors and run common online courses for all industries. But when you are super specialized, you can solve problems instead of giving general management or business frameworks. It is a game of quantity vs. quality, your goals as a coach, and your subject matter expertise. This would also need your deep understanding, qualifications, and experience in that domain. It worked for me. Just do it, and stand out.

Instead of focusing on competition, focus on collaboration. Focusing on "Who I can and need to work with" not "how can I do this" has been a huge help in my business. The saying "what goes around, comes around" is true.

I don't stay ahead of "the competition". I deliver value. Period. My goal is to provide guidance and facilitate growth; professional and personal. My expertise is in a specific software ecosystem and that's all I do. It is a waste of time to "compete".

My experience is if you want to be ahead in this competitive environment than you must focus on niche area with your capability, through this you would be able to prove in your work profile, finally this will create your work history and same would be your proven record which means you have proved what you are saying of claiming, go-ahead and prove yourself

Something I teach my college students and clients is that once you get out of school, no one's telling you what to study. Instead, create your own "Life Curriculum." I read 10 pages a day, which equals a book a month. I'm constantly listening to experts and resources in my field of interest (human performance, well-being, leadership). But I also recognize the importance of expanding your horizons. Because of that, I also spend about one month every quarter or so reading a book that's tangential to my focus, but perhaps with a different viewpoint or in a different industry. I will also read books from people whose opinions I do not share, so that I may expand my perspective and diminish my ignorance. Develop your own Life Curriculum.

One of the differentiators amongst the crowd of coaches and trainers is one who is up to date with the latest industry trends. This requires constant upgradation. In today's fast paced world of technology and information - its important stay ahead. To cut the chase - a business coach needs to invest in learning and improving. An aspect of learning is - unlearning and relearning! While conducting coaching sessions identifying what works and the gaps will help stay focussed on learning and improving skills. One thing which has worked for me is to ensure I schedule learning as a part of my schedule and invest time to read, enroll for courses to keep enhancing my skills.

Attend industry conferences to network and stay updated on emerging trends. Utilize social media to follow thought leaders and participate in relevant discussions. Incorporate client feedback to tailor your approach. Additionally, consider creating content like webinars or blog posts to showcase your expertise and attract a wider audience. Embrace a growth mindset, always seeking ways to evolve and adapt to the dynamic business landscape.

Learning and improving specifically implies learn more about yourself constantly, reflect on your realisations and re-evaluate if you want to change aspects of your mindset or behavioural patterns that do not suit you personally and your business anymore. Theoretical knowledge and attending workshops can help you expand your understanding, but you need to put it into practice - and fun fact, we all make mistakes, because we are human, so coming full circle to my starting point, learn more about yourself and from your mistakes - don’t let shame or guilt come into your way. By growing out of your comfort zone, you will become a better equipped coach, and more so, a better version of yourself.

Sometimes it is not even about staying ahead of your competition. I find it more valuable to not stay ahead, but to collaborate, to find synergies and finally to work together. Ultimately, be the best for the world!

Networking with relevant partners, multipliers and people is practically the most important activity as a consultant or coach. I started doing this almost 20 years ago and have never stopped. When I look back, practically the entire value of my business comes from my network. For me, networking means meeting people continuously and regularly without interruption and making contact and, above all, giving first and also going the extra mile before I expect anything. There is always something in return...

This was the best decision of my career and brought in such a momentum I could not ever imagine. As one of my colleagues put it so well: "Your best work is your best marketing." This also reminds me of a great book title: "How to Toot Your Horn without Blowing It." Be proactive, but be humble.

The continuous loop of feedback not only refines your approach but also reinforces your credibility and attracts a steady stream of new clients.

Reaching out for feedback permits you to better apply yourself to do better in situations of less efficiency. Testimonials share more on how valuable you've been to your clients and how much they trust you. This sells a very good image to those in doubt.

Asking your customers for a recommendation or a testimonial will give your prospects a plus and will be a sign of trust and seriousness. in the face of competition which has become very present.

Case studies are stories that connect better than bland concepts. Case studies help potential clients see themselves succeed in a scenario they can picture. Feedback and testimonials can be displayed. But writing up or videotaping a sharable case study accomplishes more.

Je regarde la concurrence mais je ne m'en préoccupe pas vraiment. J'ai choisi de poursuivre ma route selon ce qui me motive et qui n'est pas dans une seule niche. J'interviens sur le champ de l'évolution professionnelle qui est très vaste, aussi bien sur le type de clients que la diversité des thèmes. Je continue à apprendre et m'améliorer pour accompagner au mieux mes clients. Le bouche à oreille et les rencontres sont très importants dans mon activité.

To worry about or consider “competition” is foolishness. There is a huge market and any given consultant will barely scratch it. One’s attention should be on quality and client service, not on “competition.”

Business coaching/mentoring is ultimately about mindset… The mindset of the coach, firstly. I own businesses, have built businesses, and invest in businesses, so I have learned to think as a business owner and entrepreneur. My clients rely on my expertise, not just my capacity to ask insightful questions. We need to be able to see the obvious pitfalls for the business owner, the consequences, the unfolding play. This takes being passionate about how to think as a thriving business owner, not simply as a coach. The capacity to think inductively is vital… Deduction sees what is there. Induction sees the possibilities. Growth ultimately is an induction. That’s where the fun is.

I don’t concern myself with competition. I focus on each client and how We can work together. The best marketing is word of mouth. Reputation is based on the value of service. Value is perceived by the beholder.

I agree with other comments … why would I compare myself to others. I am unique and attract the “right” people to work with me. I offer something that others cannot because I have my own experiences and perspectives that no other person on the planet has gained. Comparison is the root of all unhappiness.
