To ensure that their solutions are clear, intuitive, and effective, IA professionals should be knowledgeable in user research methods, such as interviews and surveys, to understand user needs. They should also be able to synthesize and structure information from various sources. Additionally, they must be able to create and document IA deliverables such as sitemaps and navigation systems. Furthermore, they should be able to evaluate and validate IA solutions with users and stakeholders using methods such as tree testing. Finally, they need the ability to present and explain IA solutions to different audiences with appropriate language, visuals, and tools.

El cliente o el due?o generalmente tiene una visión clara de los servicios o productos de la empresa. Por lo general, mi trabajo es estructurar el sitio de manera que el usuario encuentre lo que busca fácilmente. Para lograrlo, realizó un análisis de la competencia, lo que me proporciona una idea de los estándares existentes. I don't trust an IA team that doesn't have experience with analytics and at least a minimal set of knowledge of human psychology and behavior. The last thing I want to hear is "well, that's what ____ does." That doesn't mean anything. Other businesses have different goals. You have to match your unique business needs to the user of your solution. After all, at the end of the day it's someone who's busy and doesn't care about your UI, they just don't want to have to think - they need to get in, place their order or make the KPI action you need them to do, and get out. At the end of the day IA is about people. Implement cursor tracking early and often.

An IA team should have a clear and structured process and method for executing the IA project, from start to finish. This should be aligned with the project objectives, scope, timeline, and budget, as well as the user needs and expectations. The IA process typically involves discovery, research, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and maintenance. In the discovery step, the team gathers and analyzes information about the project context, goals, requirements, constraints, and stakeholders. Research is conducted to understand user needs, behaviors, and preferences. Analysis synthesizes and structures the information based on user research findings. Design creates IA deliverables like sitemaps or wireframes. Testing evaluates solutions with users to ensure clarity and effectiveness. Implementation collaborates with developers to implement IA solutions into the product. Maintenance monitors updates based on user feedback.

An IA team should have access to a variety of tools and resources that support and facilitate their work, such as software, hardware, templates, guidelines, and best practices. Software like Sketch, Balsamiq, Axure, OptimalSort, Treejack, and Adobe XD can help create documents like sitemaps, wireframes, navigation systems, taxonomies, and metadata schemas. Hardware such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, cameras, microphones, and headphones can be used for user research methods like interviews and surveys. How driven someone is. Skills can be taught, but getting someone to have the right attitude and culture fit it important. For IA, i specifically look for people who have the nerve to face complex issues and are able to organize themselves and their work to tackle the issue.
