I would be able to explain that I started my Additive journey in a highly innovative service bureau with various technologies. These were mostly "BIG" brand names such as Stratasys, HP, Desktop Metal and various other metal processes. I am now working with technologies from "lesser known" brands such as Modix, Intamsys, Sinterit & Rapidia. These methods are all low-cost solutions (compared to the big brands), however they do not sacrifice on quality. This has allowed me to experience various methods & applications from the high & low end of the Additive spectrum, which is proving to be incredibly valuable.

The biggest issue I have seen is the amount of time that can be added by changing the internal structure. The external skeleton that the software adds for structure during print can also leave rough edges.

Context is the only thing that matters for this question. Are you explaining the basics to a new user? The basics of what part of the process? Software, materials, or process? The context can be extremely broad since the industry itself combines many complex disciplines.
