I feel 'innovate stories' should have been the first point, rather than fifth. Despite access to all the latest technologies, devices, forums etc. undoubtedly whenever I speak to people from the largest publishers in the world, to very small ones, the best of the best possess the exact same trait, they all treat content as king. Everything else has to support and amplify this foundation. Some get lost in the auxiliary aspects like tech etc. which are all important means to an end of course. The real focus however has to be on good, unique and innovative content. Use the 'so what' test, why will anyone care about what you want to write on. Then use all the other branches to help build that great story.
