Gemba orientation is another important requirement depending upon where one is placed in the hierarchy. Top leaders need to have excellent command over Leader Standard Work, mid level managers must have good skills in MBWA (Management by walking around), and operatives must develop skill of adherence to SOP's. This is besides required soft skills like effective communication, mentoring & conflict management

I would say few soft skills are more important than hard skills 1. Approachability- any shop floor employee or HoD should feel comfortable to talk to you like talking to a friend. 2. Dependability- any shop floor employee or HoD should trust that you would have their interest in mind as first thing. 3. Accountability- if you find out you were wrong, it should take less than 1 sec to admit your mistake and be Accountable for your actions. It will help build trust in time. Rest of the essential skills, shop floor would teach you like a play if you make it your playground.
