Your "next" speaking engagement comes from you "last" speaking engagement. Golden Rule - get there early and sit down with a few attendees and ask: What is the one thing you want to hear today?" Remember their name (s) and weave that into your talk. WATCH what happens.

What is your message? Who is your target audience? What others services, tools or products align well with your personal and business intentions and your message? Is this a business venture or your imagined way to create an income stream? I gave 100's of talks in high school business classes generating leads for a group of business colleges in my early 30's. Honed my presentation skills! What is your underlying purpose? Traveling and giving talks can be lonely and wearing if you are away from family for periods of time. A Podcast offers a platform and an online presence with minimal travel! Clarity about your short term and long range intentions personally and business wise would be a great place to gain that clarity!

To advance my public speaking career, I set specific, measurable goals, such as the number of speaking engagements or audience size I want to reach within a set timeframe. Next, I would focus on building my expertise in key topics, identifying areas where I can add value and differentiate myself. Networking with other speakers, attending events, and engaging with relevant communities would help me find opportunities. I would also focus on improving my skills by seeking feedback, taking courses, and practicing regularly. Tracking my progress and adjusting goals would ensure continued growth and success.

Public speaking can be a rewarding or draining career, so it's crucial to reflect on your vision and mission as a speaker. Remember, losing passion makes it hard to grow. I’ve had the opportunity to give public talks multiple times a year at conferences around the world over the last few years. In my experience, the keys to success are a clear and simple yet impactful message, along with effective delivery. To achieve this, you need to practice until the presentation flows naturally. It’s crucial to understand how everything fits together and to smoothly link one idea to the next. For my most important presentations, I even recorded myself to ensure everything was on point. Remember, time-bucketing is essential. Finally, when you find yourself in front of the audience, don’t worry if the flow or wording varies a bit! Show confidence and self-assurance, smile, and deliver your message with passion.
