Continue to do the inner work on yourself. Explore the edges of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to experiment, try new techniques, new approaches, new questions. If you have the resources, work with a quality supervisor, with a mentor coach to review your coaching. Why not work with a therapist to work through your own stuff, and help you clarify the coaching/therapy boundaries? Stay humble, stay curious. Understanding how to leverage technology is where a coach can really make a difference. We can help our clients see opportunities to streamline operations by incorporating technology and how to use it to improve outcomes from other tasks. Technology is moving so fast, that understanding the concepts behind the technology and where they can help are probably more valuable than trying to learn every tech tool out there. This process will also help us see where we can implement technology to improve our internal operations and possibly interactions with our clients.

Of course, if you are good at your coaching skill, you know everything you offer to the client first has to be thoroughly tested !

Experimentation is at the heart of Intentional Change Theory (Boyatzis, 2006; Boyatzis & Akrivou, 2006), a theory that is all about how we intentionally change our behaviors toward our ideal selves; in this case, being the best coach we can be. Experimenting with new behaviors in a safe space with the support of key stakeholders (e.g., mentor, coach) improves our ability to coach and, by extension, help bring the best out of our clients. And experimenting means we've learned something new, so learning and experimentation go hand-in-hand. Keeping our edge means continuously learning and applying what we've learned with the willingness to accept that some things will work well and some won't. No matter what, listen and integrate feedback.

We only have a few seconds when something happens to decide how we are going to frame it. Most people's default is to see things as problems. When we train ourselves to see the situation as challenge we jump into solutioning mode. Un trabajo bien hecho dónde las personas o equipos hayan obtenido buenos resultados y se vea su impacto en la empresa, llevará a qué el mismo cliente busque nuevos equipos o procesos para ser intervenidos. Desde la misma intervención, se puede identificar falencias en otras personas y equipos y sugerir empezar un trabajo con ellos como parte integral de la intervención.
