We've found 15 to 30 minute daily meetings to be helpful. We review status of tasks from the previous day and ask about risks or issues. I try to leave the team alone alone for the rest of the day (unless someone needs help) so they don't feel micromanaged.

It’s important to get information from the impacted persons so that the solution is tailored to their context and needs. It ensures ownership of all proposed tools as there was consultation. Ownership builds accountability and responsibility around the designed approach.

In virtual teams, you continuously strive to keep yourself updated with what's happening across the team. You also try to put a face to a name/icon/display pic on screen, and miss the personal connect that was the norm prior to the virtualisation of teams. There are times when remote workers default to only using Zoom / Teams or another similar option with video. However, remote workers can easily become burned out by having to be on camera constantly, especially for a meeting they may not be expecting. If possible and appropriate, consider using other mediums to avoid the need for your person to be "on" at all times. This lets them have more time to compose a response and handle whatever they are working on. Your workers will thank you for it!

While we have town hall or team meetings, it will be good to have smaller group sessions or one-to-one sessions where peers and colleagues can get to know one another. ? It can just be a waiting room where we are told to discuss anything but work. We are humans, connection is important.

I agree in my last role I conducted weekly coffee chats with all my teams (no work discussion allowed). This allowed team members to get to know each on a personal level and actually have a conversation oppose to work related. The team members looked forward to this because we were team building via remote, gave them room to discuss different topics and be heard, allow them to meet other team members. Communication is key and making sure your team feel like they are apart of a team is very important when working via remote. You want your team members to feel comfortable asking questions, addressing issues without feeling awkward or outcast. Getting them involved increases chances of participation.

We try to get together once a month in person for a happy hour as we consider face time to be important, even if it's just for a couple of hours. On a weekly basis, it's important to have 1:1s with your leaders so they understand where they are and what needs to be improved.

In a virtual setting we can have the tendency to treat the team as a team, not as individuals. So team meetings or team virtual happy hours remain at the team level and rarely focus on the team members. It’s important in a virtual context to put the emphasis on each one’s needs, the tools to get team members to work with each other and not just have to rely on the team leader to be the link between the team members. As a leader, here are a couple of tangible examples you can consider: - you can set task to be done by team members as a duo, - or encourage 360 reviews. Knowing that communication is main KSF for any project or organization, as a leader you cannot put enough emphasis on it.

Sending the meeting topics/agenda a day before the meeting and having a time keeper to ensure the meeting stays within the allocates time enhance the efficiency of the meeting. Remember to have a clear call to action that you're addressing to avoid straying from the topic at hand.

In working with virtual teams, I've made sure to set an expectation on proactive communication and its importance in remote settings. Speaking up and sharing is quite necessary for a remote team to connect and work collaboratively from different geographies. Creativity is certainly appreciated and allows us to see the authenticity and personality of each individual.

From my point of view virtual teams need focus and intense communication. Focus on goals and strategy, excel communication between leader and member and between members. Communicate formal and informal: create trust in the company, the team and yourself, ...and create happiness!

Virtual teams are doing good after pandemic. Right tools, frequent communication, proactiveness, transparency etc are important points already discussed. The only missing part is face to face connect which was helping each other to understand better, gain the trust, not only for core work but relevant issues, challenges. Once in year teams should meet in person. Need to have some unofficial meetings on regular intervals for celebrating birthday or work anniversaries or rewards recognition etc.to boost the morale and improve connect.

I would add to consider the cultural environment of each team member and help them discover each other background trust can be build through various medium depending on your culture background and the culture you are living in Understanding that is not easy for anybody because our natural biais is to believe that people are all having the same set of perspectives on the value trust but it is actually way more complexe than this Acknowledging that complexity is a way to open conversation and helping team to build trust the way that matters for each other
