To train my team on new 3D modeling tools, I’ll organize hands-on workshops focused on architectural applications. I’ll pair less experienced members with those who know the tools well for mentorship. Open communication will be key for questions, and I’ll share relevant resources. Celebrating our progress will keep everyone motivated!

To ensure the successful training of your team in adapting to new 3D modeling tools, it is essential to provide hands-on training sessions led by a trainer with in-depth knowledge of both the tool and its workflow. Since team members who are new to the tool may hesitate to ask questions due to their unfamiliarity, the trainer should proactively address common challenges they might encounter. For example, the trainer can highlight potential errors or difficulties that may arise and offer practical workarounds. This approach will boost the team's confidence and make the learning process more efficient.

Adapting to new 3D modeling tools can be daunting, particularly for teams working on complex architectural projects requiring both high and low poly modeling. In our company, we tackle this challenge by leveraging internal expertise and external knowledge. Each of our 3D artists conducts workshops on topics they specialize in, sharing tips and techniques in areas like textures and topology optimization, advanced 3d modeling plugins for 3ds Max, rewroking CAD models etc. Additionally, we invite outside experts to give masterclasses, ensuring our team stays updated on industry trends and advanced techniques.

Start small and keep it fun. Most 3D software offers multiple pathways—modeling, lighting, rigging, etc. Focus on what's essential or briefly introduce each area so learners can find their interest. When structuring a training program, include some theory but emphasize practice. Providing constraints and deadlines helps keep them focused and prevents overworking a single project. Encourage them to use their skills to create something they’re proud of, inspiring further learning.

The only thing in my opinion is to give my team a simple 3D project to make within a set pipeline, and give each of them a role in that pipeline. Cooridnation and teamwork will automatically generate solutions through various platforms and thus the team will learn the software in a decent amount of time.
