Your team is skeptical about new quality procedures. How can you earn their trust and cooperation?
Introducing new quality procedures often meets with skepticism. To turn this around:
- Demonstrate the benefits. Show how these changes will make their work easier or improve outcomes.
- Involve the team in the process. Get their input and make them feel part of the change.
- Provide training and support. Ensure everyone is confident in applying the new procedures.
How have you successfully implemented new processes with a skeptical team?

Be honest and transparent Even when it’s difficult, tell the truth and not just what you think people want to hear. Understand what employees need to know and communicate facts while being considerate of their effort, sensitive to their feelings, and understanding when inevitable mistakes are made. Time and again, transparency has been identified as a key to opening the door to honest conversations, collaboration, and respect. It can help take some of the mystery and skepticism out of the workplace – those rumor mill conversations that often lead to doubt and mistrust. To prevent rumors from spiraling, and to build a reliable sense of openness for employees, consistent and regular communication should be a priority.

First, I would share the challenge or issue that the procedure is intended to solve. Then I would involve the relevant team members to work on the content together and later share it with bigger quality community to learn and share their view. In case of a challenge, it can be taken as a room for improvement, however in some cases, the longer term goal should be emphasized more. Clear, transparent and proactive communication is key. The team members, who worked on the new procedure content, can be also the spokespersons for the procedure towards a wider community.
-
I would earn their trust by clearly explaining the purpose and benefits of the new quality procedures, highlighting how they improve efficiency and product reliability. Demonstrating the procedures’ effectiveness through data and small-scale trials can address concerns. Additionally, involving the team in the implementation process and addressing their feedback fosters collaboration and buy-in.

For me its simple , earning trust starts with listening. We should explain the new quality steps clearly and how they help everyone. Always show we are open to feedback & make it a team effort. Its also imp to celebrate their input and small wins to build confidence. Lets remember people don’t resist change they resist being changed so we should work with them not above them & trust will grow ALWAYS AND ALWAYS !! .
