Transparency is key. Explain the “why” behind the change, tying it back to the larger vision. By involving the team in the decision-making process and showing the potential long-term benefits, you foster ownership and encourage adaptability. Sometimes, reframing the change as an opportunity for growth helps shift resistance into action.

The one thing I always share with aspiring PMs: your team is everything. No product is built alone, so cultivate genuine relationships and prioritize communication. When priorities shift mid-project, you must have a clear reason and the utmost respect for your team’s time and effort. If your team knows you value their contributions, they’ll trust you when changes arise. Even if there’s pushback, transparency and honesty are key. Share your reasoning openly, and that trust will help you guide the team through any pivots.
