In my experience, it's good to be "in the trenches" with your team. When my team had a high-stakes <72 hour deadline that required them all to be in the office working over the weekend, I made sure I was in the office with them, supporting them, buying them lunch. They knew I didn't have to be there, but I was, and leading by example has profound ripple effects on the rest of the team. Show up, and show them resilience, and then they might show it in return.

We need to get away from the the concept of resilience in this context. It is a vague, subjective term that is hard to measure reliably and takes focus away from the organisation's role in nurturing employee performance and wellbeing. Focus instead on strengthening team cohesion outside high-pressure situations. Normalise uncertainty, anxiety, and other difficult emotions in the workplace. Model fallibility (I don't have all the answers) and actively seek input from others to exploit team diversity and skills. In addition, encourage the expression of dissenting perspectives, and view work as a learning exercise for long-term high performance.

Next, learn to genuinely appreciate the small things—support from others, resources, or tools that keep you moving. This gratitude turns your environment into a powerful support system. Finally, make reframing negative situations a habit. See every setback as a chance to learn, and don’t let them mess with your mind. Resilience isn’t just a trait; it’s a way of living.

El apoyo y la colaboración son clave en escenarios de alta presión. Si entendemos que esta situación es, evidentemente puntual, ya que no sería sostenible en el tiempo, cómo líder activaría la herramienta que yo llamo "no inventemos la rueda" escogería de manera estratégica a cada colaborador del equipo para destinarlo a ejecutar esa tarea en la que tiene mayor eficiencia. Así, reduciremos esa situación de presión en el tiempo, jugando de manera estratégica con las habilidades y competencias de cada miembro del equipo. En estos escenarios, también ayuda celebrar los peque?os logros de manera diaria. El hecho de superar peque?os hitos, une al equipo y hace que el camino por esa situación de presión se haga más llevadero.
