My rule of thumb is to foster collaboration and promote openness within the team through active listening, evaluating options, seeking common ground, and voting to reach a final decision.

Teams differ when their assumptions, and goals are different. Getting them to the table to share their assumptions about the ask, the resources, the timelines. And to.plot the desired potential outcomes. Often conversations bring forth appreciation of past experiences of success or failure. Skin in the game is another key difference. Some teams want to come finish and go, so they have a short term outlook, other build for the medium term and hence longer time and resources.. Once where we are coming from is appreciated, the gap in decision making narrows and can be bridged

From simple to complex situations it is common to see divided opinions in teams. It is always important to analyze the problem and identify the root causes. Once the team members agree on the causes, allow them sufficient time to think and debate. As a team leader, give each member to express his or her ideas independently and listen carefully to possible solutions. If majority of the team members agree with your suggestions it’s wonderful and if you see that another solution is better than yours then have the courage to accept it.
