To increase efficiency with implementing sustainable practices in any retail team, start through choosing suppliers with sustainable practices, which reduces waste and costs. 1. Implement energy-saving technologies, such as LED lighting and efficient HVAC systems, to cut energy expenses and environmental impact. 2. Train employees on sustainable practices to seamlessly integrate them into daily operations, enhancing both productivity and sustainability. 3. Finally, conduct regularly analysis or set performance metrics to adjust strategies as needed, ensuring that sustainability efforts continuously contribute to operational efficiency.

Green Inventory has to be implemented in the true sense as part of backward integration at the main plant. This system is prominently used by Automobile industries wherein the vendors and sub-vendors are given land near the main plant so that parameters like Q, costs and delivery are controlled and the supply chain is more reliable and sustainable.

"Green Inventory" seems subjective.. imagine a scenario where 100% of the workforce was automated. The issues you currently see today would be near non existent. I mean the best way to have a green inventory with a smaller foot print would be to refine standard practices because I can tell you from experience that if near 15% of your total inventory is damaged in transit between locations because of poor packaging practices that you ARE going to be spending more money to pay for that, if there are poor safety standards in place that don't enforce having proper pallets, power equipment not being serviced in time, unloading practices that compound on the poor loading practices that you are going to spend more money to correct the issue I.E..

Apart from energy savings in industries, the most neglected area is safety audits of them. Are our industries safe from any sort of mishap because of short circuits arising from arcing? AFDD i.e. Arc fault detection devices are needed to protect any commercial set-up including cinema halls, Hospitals, Malls, Residential apartments etc. These devices immensely help in saving energy too when catastrophes arise and these are like ticking-bombs in waiting.

1. You need energy to run the building, the alarms, The CPU systems, keep the lights on, heat your employees in the winter and cool them in the summer. In any if not all retail space where you have a human element you will in some capacity require energy consumption, expect it as a cost to do business... now, there are ways to keep those energy cost as low as efficiently possible: using energy saving or power reducing bulbs, auto timers for the lights or power in areas less frequented. friendly reminders in break rooms and bathrooms to turn off or unplug lights/devices not in use. all in all the best was to save energy is to consume it wisely.

Apart from the 3Rs Reduce, Recycling, Reuse, there are other R's like the Recover and Resolve et all. All know the common R's like: Reduce the use of harmful plastics that destroy nature Recycle the Al waste (like cans) back into the system. Reuse of old furniture by finding a buyer for them. Plus+ Recover the gold and other rare-earth from e-waste Resolve to use fewer resources by taking a vow. All these are just a few strong steps to waste reduction (MUDA).

Employee Engagement is very poor in the true sense as the trust levels have decreased and hence the so-called capitalists are moving towards unnecessary automation, AI, Robotics etc. Not knowing these are going to boomerang back on them even harder.

I don't want to feel like I am giving this information away for free haha... but, Employee training is only 50% of the equation here. If you fail to create or provide an immersive environment to which your average employee feels like there is a reason to his or her voice then you will continue to see a lack of employee engagement that is prevalent in the workforce today regardless of your intention and try to remember: Treat people how you want to be treated. :)

Sustainable tech will be needed soon like the example of paper reduction to save on trees that are so vital for the environment. We need a good human-to-human experience in the days to come. Tech is an enabler and not the defining authority.
