To ensure consistent communication during significant change, I prioritise transparency and structure. First, I establish clear communication channels, such as regular virtual meetings, team updates, & dedicated platforms for queries. You could use Slack for real-time updates, Google Docs for collaborative documentation,& WhatsApp groups for quick & informal check-ins. Next, I share updates promptly, outlining the reasons for the change and its impact while encouraging two-way dialogue. I ensure team members feel heard by addressing concerns individually & collectively. I use visuals, summaries, & follow-up emails to reinforce key messages. Maintaining clarity builds trust and keeps the team aligned & supported throughout the transition.

Holding regular check-ins is great bit I would challenge leaders to take it to the next level especially during times of change. I’ve found that blending well-being check-ins with business goal alignment creates a perfect balance. When teams feel you’re accessible and genuinely care about their experience, it builds trust and makes navigating change smoother.

While there might be a temptation to use as many platforms as possible to communicate about changes, the team is already likely to be stressed. So make sure you all agree which channel to communicate really important updates about the changes that are happening. "how" behind the change to build trust and alignment. Also make time for 1-2-1s so you can hear individual concerns. Ass a leader, make sure you get support for yourself as you support others.

Know your team and understand the abilities and mindset of every individual. Ensure your availability during crucial periods. Regular check-ins will help keep everyone updated both as a team and individually regarding their tasks. In remote work settings, it’s important to have clear SOPs for emergencies, especially during communication breakdowns. An efficient and continuous feedback system should be developed to keep everyone informed and updated. Utilize multiple communication channels, and designate some specific channels for urgent work. Always remain open to dialogue, encouraging questions, and be responsive by adjusting quickly to needs. Additionally, find meaningful ways to recognize and celebrate milestones.
