2. The Future of Psychiatric Diagnosis:
Researchers at the UCL Institute for Neurology have developed AI tools to detect subtle speech patterns in schizophrenia patients. Published in PNAS, their study aims to enhance psychiatric diagnosis through automated language analysis. The study found that control participants' responses were more predictable than those of schizophrenia patients, particularly in severe cases.
3.?The Impact of Sentence Complexity on Brain Activity
MIT neuroscientists, with the aid of an artificial language network, have identified the types of sentences that activate the brain's language processing centers the most. Complex sentences, featuring unusual grammar or unexpected meanings, elicit stronger responses in these centers. Meanwhile, straightforward sentences barely engage them, and nonsensical word sequences do little. This study, published in Nature Human Behavior, sheds light on how the brain processes language.
