Spend time making sure the data is understood by all that need to understand it. I think we (I certainly do) take for granted that the metrics are well understood by line management. Pareto analysis of any operational unit has been very helpful to improve uptime etc. The 80/20 Principle fits all the time......

1 Implement lean principles like 5S, kanban, and value stream mapping. 2 Invest in automation to reduce manual labor. 3 Conduct regular performance evaluations to identify areas for improvement. 4 Train employees on best practices. 5 Optimize inventory management to minimize waste. 6 Implement predictive maintenance to prevent equipment downtime. 7 Use data analytics to monitor performance. 8 Foster a culture of continuous improvement. 9 Standardize procedures for consistency. 10 Collaborate with suppliers for better supply chain efficiency.

Increasing production efficiency when it is going smoothly is one of the best moments to do it. Continuous improvements on productivity. Training operators for full and multiple related skills. SMED reduction. TPM in place. Cycle time analysis vs. Tackt time and related actions, to balance. Stock accuracy for a better MRP management. Nevertheless, communication is the most important. Where we are and where we go, forward. Team members should be on the same page of the plan. ??

It is important to analyze data if you want to make improvements in X area. Knowing WHAT Data is also vital and something often overlooked. Look beyond headline information and cross pollinate data sets for trends across the shop floor as opposed specific to machine or team.

Nesse caso eu recomendo desenhar o estado futuro do processo baseado na vis?o estratégica, definir o roadmap de implementa??o e seguir em frente.

Continuous improvement is at the heart of manufacturing. While not every job can be automated, many can. If your company has the cashflow, then it may be worthwhile to consider automating jobs that pose significant safety hazards, or that are extremely repetitive. Automating these positions will improve output because you don't have to worry about employee attendance, or injuries that will stop your production line. Secondly, consider adding automated data collection, and visual reporting. This provides a continuous feedback loop to your team and will support them executing at a higher level. Oftentimes data is manually written down on logs. However, if you can convert this data into a digital file, you will have more flexibility.

A critical definition to start with is what someone defines as "smooth." In this case, most people would think there aren't obviously visual disruptions in safety, quality, or delivery. What is likely unseen is all of the 'hidden factory' things like reworked parts, small cycle time misses, or excessive labor and inventory to cover up issues. When relaying out an area you first list out the process steps and if they are sequential, or if they can be done at different times. Then laying out the work space to optimize space keeping in mind what is best ergonomically for the value-creators, what gives them the most mistake-proofed steps to complete, and everything laid out in a way that they will be able to repeatedly produce at or below takt.

When you consider your process flow, you want to consider where everything is physically positioned. While you will not be able to eliminate all waste, you can eliminate a lot of waste by simply putting appropriate departments close to each other. Essentially, the departments should be in the order of your WIP flow. Next, take the time to analyze your processes to see if they are really needed or not. You can do this using a Value Stream Map (VSM). Sometimes you can consolidate multiple operations into a single one, or eliminate them all together of they are not adding value to your operations. Finally, build processes that cover 85% of your use cases. There will always be parts that don't flow the same, but these are not priority.

During our Operational Excellence audit, I recognized the importance of external support and collaboration in maintaining and advancing from the performance standards. With a focus on meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and fostering a culture of operational excellence, I sought assistance from external partners to enhance our initiatives within the Supply Chain department. One significant aspect where external support played a pivotal role was in the implementation of learning workshops aimed at promoting workplace safety and organization. Leveraging the expertise of external consultants and training providers, we developed innovative training modules and interactive tools to educate employees on safety protocols and best practices.

It's not entirely up to you to handle it alone. To improve your productivity and performance, you can look for outside assistance and teamwork. You can improve your capacities, quality, and innovation by utilizing the knowledge, assets, and networks of several outside partners, including suppliers, clients, consultants, research institutions, and trade associations. Additionally, you can work together with other manufacturers in your industry or in other industries to exchange best practices, gain knowledge from one another, and develop synergies.

Benchmark your performance with similar businesses and competitors which will indicate the possible performance gap. First work on closing this gap. Next step is to open out of box thinking by team at all levels to-imagine what could possibly happen. Rate the thoughts based on possible impact on business, ease of implementation and ESG factors. Then allocate top few Projects to dedicated teams to own try and implement. Improvement is continuous. One can never say that is the best and that is it forever
