When receiving client criticism, listen carefully, stay open-minded, and don’t take it personally. Clarify their vision by asking questions, and propose solutions that address their concerns. Afterward, reflect on the feedback to improve your approach, building trust and enhancing the final design.

What's important to keep in mind is that design is a very creative field and no two people necessary should have the same tastes. So it is natural to not have your design approved by a client. Once you accept this, it gets easier to receive feedback and criticism and move on without fixating on it. Try to move forward keeping the client's perspective in mind, understand their needs and where they're coming from. Sometimes you might even get a design approved that you personally don't really like, but the main focus should be to give the client what they need even if you don't completely see eye to eye. In certain circumstances where the goal of the project doesn't align with your principles, it might be better to move on to a different one.

When a client critiques my design, I handle it with an open mind and professionalism. I listen carefully to understand their perspective, focus on solutions, and adapt the concept to better align with their vision. I also ensure transparent communication about design choices and work collaboratively to refine the outcome, aiming for a result that satisfies the client while preserving design integrity.

"Before proceeding, I'd like to clarify the following: 1. Are there specific areas of the design/concept that you're uncertain about or would like me to focus on for improvement? 2. Could you provide references or examples for better understanding? Once I have this information, I'll conduct further research and incorporate your feedback as constructive changes, rather than criticisms." Will specify areas of uncertainty and provide references, I'll research and implement feedback as constructive changes."
