Make open communication a top priority in order to comprehend the difficulties faced by an overburdened employee. Set reasonable deadlines, assign duties where you can, and offer to assist them in rearranging their burden. To alleviate tension, promote pauses and offer assistance or instruction as required. Last but not least, stay in touch frequently to provide further inspiration and support.

One time at work, I noticed a teammate missing out on team celebrations. I realized she was overwhelmed with deadlines but hesitant to speak up." Instead of waiting for her to reach out, I scheduled a one-on-one to ask how she was doing. She opened up, and we mapped out her workload together. We identified the most crucial tasks and, to my surprise, found a few that could be paused. With a few adjustments, she felt more at ease, and her productivity skyrocketed. This experience taught me that sometimes, it’s not just about workload—it’s about showing people they aren’t alone.

Begin by discussing their workload to understand the challenges. Help prioritize tasks and break down large projects into steps. Offer to reallocate or delegate work if possible, and encourage time-management tools. Flexible deadlines and regular check-ins for support can ease their load and boost confidence. These small tips will greatly help to achieve the goal, together

Frequently checking on the employee while he/she is chasing tight deadlines is important. Helping them prioritize, discuss the bottlenecks and the probable solutions, identify the right people/sources for help, take a workload share if required by giving them some time off to refresh their mind are the few things I like to do. Nothing is more effective than empathy. Sometimes all an employee wants is to be seen and heard.
