strategies are as under 1. Utilize Redundant Equipment If possible. 2. Outsource Production Partner with external vendors or suppliers who can handle part or all of your production temporarily. 3. Shift Production to Other Machines/Lines Redistribute the production load to other machines or production lines that are still operation. 5. Inventory Buffer Maintain a buffer inventory of critical products or components. 6. Temporary Production Rerouting If your company has multiple facilities, consider rerouting production to another location. 7. Engage in Continuous Improvement Projects Use the downtime to focus on process improvements. Any of above quoted strategy can be make depend on alternate resources available with you.

1- Outsource agreement 2- Remote troubleshooting for the affected machine via the machine manufacturer 3- Review the preventive and predictive maintenance systems/schedules and spare parts inventory and/or spare parts replnishment agreements and lead time to eleminate this risk in future 4- Close monitoring to the product inventory levels at customer level with a carefull distribution to the real needs to maintain supply continuity across the our customers network until returning to the in-house full production capacity

If this happen to your organization, means that you are not doing the Preventive Maintenance the right way. And if you know that the machine that you have is critical, you should mitigate by building some buffer to eliminate further risk. Another ways is that there should not be any Single Point of Failure for any critical production system.

Always have a backup plan for critical equipment. Based on the critical matrix if a particular equipment is devised as Critical it is significant we have a secondary equipment of the same machine. In the case that we do not have a backup machine then it is important to have a 3rd party contractor who can perform the activity for your company.
-
One thing I find important is to identify how much impact is the critical machine breakdown causing to you. For example if the machine breakdown is impacting the turnover of the job it's very imp to take prompt decisions to repair the machine timely and at the same time be prepared with some sub vendors who shall work for you in such situations where the work can be covered at a reasonable cost and not impacting customer delivery dates.
