1) Set a loose agreement via email prior to the meeting and nail down the topic. 2) Also get a commitment of exactly what they want to walk away from the call with. 3) Gain insight into why it’s so important right now. 4) In email get clarity on what will the indicator be for the client that tells them they’re walking away with what they want. If you can get all of this upfront, you’ve saved 10-20 minutes potentially of live talk time. There may be some recalibration and tweaking, but it will probably be minor and not take up any airtime.

It's important to focus on the most critical areas where your students need support. Provide clear, concise feedback and actionable steps they can take to improve. You can also recommend resources, tools, or exercises they can work on independently to enhance their learning outside of class. Encourage them to ask questions and reflect on their progress, making the most of the time you have together.

As a career clarity coach, my time with clients is often limited, but I’ve learned to make every minute count. Once I had a client who was a mid-level manager feeling overwhelmed and stuck in her career. She came in with a long list of frustrations, but I knew we had to focus. I asked her one simple, yet powerful question: "What are you truly passionate about?" That question unlocked something in her. She realized that mentoring others, something she had forgotten about in her busy day-to-day life, was what truly lit her up. By the end of our 30-minute conversation, she left with clarity and a concrete plan to seek mentoring opportunities within her company, feeling motivated and excited again.

By exploring techniques like targeted questioning, active listening, and providing resources, coaches can offer valuable insights and support, even within time constraints.

how do i know what i think until i hear what i've said? when a personal insight presents it's most impactful when the coached gets the "AHA" i ask why? listen, ask why? listen, etc keep asking why till the "AHA" moment arrives
