Before even explaining to the client, test yourself if you understand the concept thoroughly and make a person understand the same within 30 mins! Visual cues are best as images are easily understood and take lesser explaining provided those are simplified. Market trends are best explained in context to client’s industry/sector: 1. Explain what each trend means 2. How it impacts them 3. What is in it for them; new opportunity, new risk or threat, new product line etc 4. Finally, if possible, a recommended roadmap for them to make best use of trends

But with success stories or case studies of new trends it is easy to convince the clients. Obviously highlighting their benefits in going for the new trends is very much important to these clients.
