Haz preguntas poderosas que lo inviten a pensar por sí mismo en lugar de darle las respuestas. Asegúrate de que defina objetivos específicos y realistas, para que pueda ir viendo su propio progreso y sentir mayor control sobre su desarrollo. Anímalo a tomar decisiones de manera proactiva, en lugar de depender de ti para la dirección. Ayúdalo a identificar sus fortalezas y a celebrarlas, pues reconocer sus propios logros le dará más seguridad para enfrentar futuros desafíos sin depender de ti. Si notas que depende demasiado de ti para tomar decisiones, establece límites claros desde el principio, dejando claro que tu rol es guiarlo, no darle respuestas.

This reinforces their role in the coaching process and allows them to take ownership of their development. Encourage them to journal or keep notes on their insights between sessions.Remind the client that the purpose of coaching is to equip them with the tools they need to thrive independently. As a new coach, this can be a minefield if you’re not careful. We are eager to get results on behalf of the client &, with good intentions, try to fix or offer solutions. Where you see your client seeking validation, it’s easy to stray into this territory, inadvertently creating dependency. Contracting & boundary setting is key but self reflection is vital, the coach is an equal part of the dynamic & can wield unintended influence. Check in with yourself, be kind, but reflect on your part in the process. Are you meeting them on equal terms? Do you really believe they hold the answers within them? Set your intentions before the session & take stock of what you could do differently. Be honest with yourself & the client. Discuss it.
