I find THE BEST way to attract desirable candidates is to first perform a Needs Analysis on them! This analysis will allow me to understand; - What they have accomplished in their career. - Why they enjoy their chosen career and employer. - What needed attribute does their current job not provide. - What is their family or personal life. How is it in conflict with their current job. - If they could describe their IDEAL job, what THREE characteristics would it have. (I then ask for more characteristics.) I then explain how my client's career opportunity will fulfill their needs.

I find that maintaining relationships of mutual trust with each job candidate is as important as maintaining mutual trust with my client. (And my client is the party in the equation who pays me.) The candidate's job search is about THEM. Not me or my client. I constantly remind them of this fact. Maintaining mutual trust with the job seeker allows me to become a Trusted Ally in their job search. They become more trusting of our relationship. They become more willing to share their interest in the presented opportunity and interest in moving forward in the evaluation process. The more trusting our relationship, the easier it is to control their emotion in the career opportunity and learn their interest in moving forward in the process.

I am my client's representative with the job candidate. This means that I fully understand the compensation package that my client would like to offer and the limits that they can constrain what that offer will be. On the opposite side of the equation, I make sure that my client understands the desired compensation that the job candidate currently has and what their compensation MUST be. I assure that compensation has been discussed, understood, and agreed to BEFORE the offer is extended. If the candidate begins to negotiate after an agreeable offer has been made, I tell the candidate that they are not acting in good faith. I then threaten to recind the offer.
