This might sound strange, but it provides big benefits that I'll explain below: learn a Functional language. Pick one that suits you (there are many choices and levels of difficulty) and start coding. The rationale is this: the essence of Computation is Composition. You'll learn to see computational processes as a series of connected data transformations across connected action units, and Functional Programming teaches this like no other paradigm. Research has shown that FP provides both the highest-quality code and final products. Plus, you'll learn to program declaratively, which expresses intent more clearly in code. Being able to brag that you grok FP doesn't hurt, either.
