You want to create the most interactive AR experience for your audience. How do you get them to engage?

Key things to understand about your audience when designing an AR experience: Audience Profiling: Identify your target audience's demographics, preferences, and tech proficiency. Accessibility: Ensure your AR design accommodates diverse tech familiarities and the lowest common denominator of device/model.

To spark engagement in your AR experience, here are few key strategies: 1. Know your audience: Tailor the experience to their interests and expectations. Understand what would truly capture their attention. 2. Prioritize user agency: Offer choices and control to users, allowing them to interact with the AR elements in a meaningful way. 3. Layer in different interactions: Combine various touch, voice, or gesture controls to cater to diverse preferences and keep users engaged. 4. Gamification & rewards: Integrate game mechanics, points, or even virtual treasures to incentivize exploration and continued interaction. 5. Encourage social sharing: Build features that allow users to share their AR experiences with others.

Imagine a whale that doesn't swimm in the ocean. Instead it flies in the sky. Interesting right? Now imagine that you can set the route for the whale and decide the size, cruising speed and the cities it should visit around the globe. In order to create the best fit between your next AR experience and your audience you need to answer those 3 questions : - Who is my audience ? Age - Location - How often do they use AR ? - Where can I get them involve in the Experience ? Morning - At the office - At Lunch - In the subway etc… - Is AR already in their habits or is it a new media that I’m going to let them experiment ? Once you have this answers you can now create the experience with the rights insights and the perfect incentive to let them act

We find it very important to offer adaptive AR interaction experiences to our Users, based on how they inherently use their phones. When in AR some people hold their phones in portrait (upright). Others hold them in landscape (wide). Your AR UI/UX should dynamically and seamlessly accommodate these different use cases. Your User won't notice anything different and the experience will simply flow. However, restricting your User can create unnecessary friction, which can lead to a less enjoyable experience. If your User is having fun and doesn't notice the interface (as it doesn't get in the way), be sure to plunk a big checkmark in that design box and go get yourself some ice cream!

In addition to visual and audio, keep tactile feedback at the forefront of your app's User Experience journey. Feeling your phone give subtle bumps and buzzes when engaging with interactive elements unconsciously scores big points with your Users. And here's why. You've engaged their sight. You've engaged their hearing. Now engage their tactile touch. This 3rd level sensory interaction completes a wonderful sensory trifecta that can be the Holy Grail of User interaction. And so easy to accomplish with just a few extra lines of code! Of course, less is always more. Give them a tactile taste, without overdoing it. A little goes a long way.

You NEED to create incentive when you think about an AR Experience. Your audience is going to play ? Let them know that they are going to be rewarded by playing with your AR Game. Your audience needs to find IRL Places to unlock the experience ? Make sure to let them know the entire process to access the experience and avoid any pain points to download it. Make sure to surprise them ! You can hide different elements in your experience such as Golden Ticket, Easter Eggs or other things depending of the time they experiment the AR Game or the meteo.. Those points are crucial if you want people to interact àd SHARE your AR experience

To create shareable content, think PLATFORM first. AR Social is the best way to let your audience use the experience and then share it with just a tap. When you create the experience, I always think Simple and Easy-to-use because UX is key. If the AR Experience is too complicated to understand, your audience has 90% chance to leave. Sometime it’s better to rethink the entire production process than just be very fast on your creation and put away a part of your audience.

Adding mini-games or challenges can also keep them involved. Providing rewards or virtual prizes for completing tasks or achieving goals can further motivate participation. Additionally, integrating social features like multiplayer modes or sharing options can encourage users to interact with each other and share their experiences, making it more fun and immersive for everyone involved.

On my point of view, Key indicators in AR Experiences are : - Time spent on the global experience - Number of Shares - Number of people interacting with the experience - What people shares exactly on their social networks by using your experience. (This is the best part, when you are a creator and you are creating something, you think about how you want people to use it BUT the ultimate part is how people FINALLY use it in their Stories or Contents and how fun they can be thanks to the new tool you created)
