However, it's important to exercise caution as direct copying is not advisable, but taking inspiration is always beneficial. 2. Learn from their mistakes; not all formats will yield positive results. By observing their missteps, you can avoid making similar errors yourself.

Social media gives us a perfect place to express and explore our creativity, while also challenging each of us to stay on brand to who/what we’re working with! Don’t be afraid to try something new to put yourself out there. Social media gives us many ways to express and share our messages and stories.

Ask yourself: 'If I encountered this format, would I engage with it?' If you find yourself hesitating, it's a cue to reconsider your content to ensure it's not just original, but more importantly, compelling.

This point is incredibly significant—social media ought to be viewed by every brand as a two-way street. People engage with your content, leaving comments and reactions. It's only fitting to reciprocate. Consider this: how would you feel if one of your favorite brands or influencers took the time to respond to your comment on social media? Nobody wants to be the first to the party so make it easier for those early commenters depending on your platform! Youtube: I like to have a Call to Action in the video to encourage commenters and then I reply rapidly to early responders to help get the conversation going. Tiktok: Usually you want your videos to be snappy enough that you generally don't have time for a full CTA so leave one in the comments! Again making sure you are responding rapidly to comments made in the first hour of posting.

Avoid getting overwhelmed by the vast variety of data points. As a creator you first grow by providing value which may not always result in more views at first! For Youtube or Tiktok content creation, that means retention metrics like watch time % and engagement metrics like comments or likes. Your videos could have a strong click through rate on Youtube for example, but if users are not staying around then you may not be providing enough value. Having a "value-first" mentality will build a core audience, which you can then build into a community that will help spread your content for you further propelling growth!

Ask yourself "what next?" Social media will give you amazing access to an unlimited amout of ideas, styles, and information. If you think, "what can I add next" and focus on the social part you are opening up a dialogue and to me that is the part that holds people back the most. By solving the "what" quickly then you get to play around with the "how". Most people when they want to be creative think in hows...how to best show and deliver your what. This is the play part. And with the pressure lowered you feel more freedom to play. And what better way wo connect with people than through play?

Identify your ideal style of content that you'd love to create. Find your favourite 5-10 content creators in that area and look at their top 10-15 performing videos. You've now got a baseline of the best performing 50-100+ videos in your niche. Take in what makes these great videos and utilising those topics create similar videos but applying your own unique style.
