In my experience the vision should be built according to the scale What eyes can figure out differs when size does The materials representation would vary from an abstracted color to texture Also the connections and details are much recognizable in macro sizes than only masses represented when the scale is micro

Focus on what you want others see through your model Is it the design concept, the developed design, a mass study, an urban feeling..etc And who are the category of people who will see it Are they architects, academics or clients so you can pick the best symbolic type of mockups And what’s the occasion for it Is it an exhibition where the mockup is on a large table or a one to one mockup or a study material..etc All of this draw guiding lines for your way of presentation
