For this to work, you have to genuinely care about your message and connecting with your audience. And isn't that the whole point?

Managing your breathing during a speaking event will aid in managing your nerves in this situation. I suggest running through your presentation at different speeds to find what speed suits your delivery and subject. Breathing regularly will enable you to express yourself in a clear and consistent manner.

In my experience, doing your audience mapping before you go for your talk is very important. Having said that, you need to have a good understanding of: - What the audience is expecting from you? - What is their purpose of attending your talk? - Any other details about your audience like, age or gender ratio, background, beliefs, etc. might be helpful to refer to any examples, quotes which you can use in your talk for better understanding

When I was a lecturer at University I used the affirmation: “I’m happy, confident and successful in all I do.” I shared it with a student who was worried about her upcoming presentation. When I asked her about it the following week, her response was: “The mind is very gullible, isn’t it.” Your brain believes what it’s programmed with. Saying this affirmation aloud amplifies the impact as you are physically saying it and hearing it.

First, know your topic very well. Be on a first name basis with every corner of it. Next, while looking around at the whole audience, make eye contact with individuals and groups of individuals all around the room. If the stage lights are too bright to see everyone well, still aim your glance all over the audience. Finally, don't be confined by a podium or lectern. Move around.
