I am a huge fan of planning, but I think it's important to know when you've planned enough. Unknowns and changes are inevitable. If your plan is too detailed, you'll constantly be reworking your plan with every twist and turn of the project. If you have a higher-level plan, you can pivot as needed without needing to completely restructure and realign your plan. With a small team, regular alignment and constant communication will keep you on track. Spend more time doing and less time reworking your plan.

There’s an old saying that says “Piss Poor Preparation Promotes Piss Poor Performance.” With that being said, the better the plan is, the better the execution can be. You can have a small team and achieve huge things. But, it takes some strategic approach and thinking and execution. Also, having people that you can just get out of the way of and let them do their thing is a major plus.

Every content launch needs a messaging playbook. It's the backbone of how you will deliver consistent messaging across teams, across channels, and across customer segments . . . consistently. When we work with clients we do these 3 things: 1. Workshop the launch, product, or service. Here's where we unravel the pain points, key segments, and where and why our client deserves to win. 2. Develop the messaging playbook. 3. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE - Activate the playbook by training the entire staff on how to use it, doing storymining exercises so they can add to it, and identifying immediate next steps. This is not the time to lean on leaning by osmosis.

Effective Communication is key. Being effective isn’t meeting around the clock. That actually decreases productivity because what time is there to work? So, have a solid communication plan, maximizing your time by minimizing the number of unnecessary meetings and tasks. If there are questions, ask them. If there are updates, provide them. Communicate EFFECTIVELY
