You don't have a degree in design. How can you still master the skills?

In most cases, a lot of designers didn't start off from a design school. There's always a roadmap to this, they look for resources to help hone their skills and practise more often, connect with peers and mentors, join communities and to help them improve.

Practice is the Key ??. In my opinion you truly do not need to have a degree to master your skills in design field. If you are enough passionate about designing or creating something out of the box and during this process you are learning tips and tricks from whatsoever resources are available is good to become proficient in design. Just keep practicing.

You don't need a degree, theres multiple ways to absorb knowledge. You can learn the basics through online courses, books, mentorship, intensive programs. Your will, will carry you through the process. No matter what world you come from design will always be about the work. Study the fundamentals, practice, play and have fun.

There are many ways to learn design skills. Own self learning by watching YouTube channel mastering softwares to be able to create your designs. Read books. Keep following websites for the most famous companies. Create a wide connections in LinkedIn. Practice more. Try to keep watching experts.

To be honest, you don't really need a degree to start designing. Infact, one shouldn't directly jump into a program right away even when they have resources to do so. First, one needs to understand is design even for them? Or is it that they just want to ride that cool wave in which you just see an awesome visual euphoria and you think, that's it. Design as a career just like other domains, it also has it's ups and downs. One should research first and getting to know fundamentals can be a great way after they think they might wanna delve into it. For that they can try out various resources like Youtube, try out roadmaps and see what works for them. Trial and error will make you want to dive deeper and also make sure you have what it takes.

I think the best way to improvise design skills without certification is by trying and doing things rather than thinking over it. If you fail, you'll learn better than learning from a mentor,if you succeed keep moving forward. This approach has helped me move up the ladder and I'm not afraid to admit that I faced a lot of failures than success in my career and that's why I am better than most of them and I never shy to try out new things.

Finding a good mentor is very essential for your journey ? sometimes you will be judged on the basis of not having a degree but it's okay eventually if you are having good projects with your company experience then it is also not bad ??

You don't require a degree. A formal education basically simplify the learning as there is a curriculum to what to learn. If you have the mindset and motivation to do it on your own, all you need is a curriculum reference or the things you know you need to learn right from fundamentals of design to the application and further. It would be helpful if you have a mentor or a community of people which will ease in the process and won't feel lost in the journey.

Practice makes man perfect! one can learn on the job or during internship. You will get better and better with practice and you will improve your eye for details and ability to judge your designs gradually. You will develop design thinking process through practice and learning. As per me good mentor also plays an important role.

Learning and applying your skills with a fellow skilled individual will help you understand the process more and open your eyes to new ways to do things. Collaboration, learning under leadership or even teaching a newbie is the best way to get your thoughts out of your secluded box and start an innovative discussion.

Any review, feedback or criticism should be taken as a constructive one. If not, then there is no space open for growth or even thinking through the betterment of your skillset. Join communities like ADPList where you can find free mentorship or go to meetups and find your community in physical spaces, it will help you stay motivated and inspire you to grow.

The feedback received during design critiques helps designers think more freely and outside of the box. I believe this will lead to better designs, creative ideas, and more innovative choices. Also, laugh at your mistakes, learn from it, and move on.

I think this is the most important practice of designers life, continuous improvement. Your skill gets improved by continuous improvement through thoughtful critics. Don’t be Afraid of getting criticised (on design notes) by experts and those who understand the design. You can ask your senior designers friends to review your design or you can post it on LinkedIn to get it reviewed

Feed back is nessecery in all stage. You need to check all of things. Monitoring and feedback. Are you think about it: which criteria can determine who are satisfy? Every user are agree with you in designing?

Designers are called to solve big problems in different fields of knowledge, in that case if you are interested in learning about design, a good idea might be to start by investigating how design has contributed to the problems that interest you. After that, you will have a good starting point to begin your training.

Trends keep you look latest and updated designer, most of the time trends are created through colours, typography and design style (glassmorphism, neumorphism etc.) you can find the latest and well explained trends through YouTube channels, medium articles and adobe articles. Remember understanding trend is very important, if you do not understand where exactly the trend can be used it can be catastrophic for you, client and customer

I would suggest using figma for all of your needs. It’s versatile tool for all of your design requirements starting from your ux requirements to prototyping

There are dozens of independent schools across the world that teach art and design skills online and in person. Find the schools where the instructor's work resonates with you the most and take classes there. Focus on the fundamental skills first, for as long as you can, before progressing to more advanced or specialized courses. While a degree may come in handy over the course of your career, a portfolio of strong work will be far more important. Plenty of independent schools and courses out there share this opinion and will help you to prioritize skill building.

You might think that the old keypad phones are better than today's smartphones based on xyz reasons, but you can't just keep designing monolithic, based on your own personal opinions. You will be definitely left behind. You design for what's in front of you and for the future not for what's already past. Obviously, you add your touch and that's what personalization is all about and what makes you different. But you need to keep learning and growing and never stay a stuck up forever. It's to adapt and evolve accordingly, that's the reason the concept of designers even came across at the first place.

Having a degree or none doesn't affect you as an designer . Instead Focusing on your works matters as at the end people seek for crazy portfolio's that's all you need and if you want to master the skills required then there's plenty of resources over Youtube or I'll suggest having a good machine even in the start instead of going for degree will give you the motivation to work and learn and if you work each day to improve there's everything possible . So, If you wanna master the skills practising things and not just copying other people stuff instead adding your personal touch will sharpen your craft.

There really isn't a degree in design. The designer does not acquire skills through training, but through experience. It also helps to have a creative spirit. What the degree provides is the necessary knowledge of the tools that can be used, but design is something creative and personal, and it cannot be learned in a course, no matter how famous that degree may be. I’m not an engineer, I’m a physicist, and my design skills come from me, because I have a creative spirit, not because I have a piece of paper that says Master’s Degree in Physics. There are engineers who have not designed anything in their professional life, because they lack that spirit. That doesn’t mean they aren’t empowered for other engineering tasks (e.g., management).

Create something as low fidelity as possible and put it in front of potential customers as soon as possible. Iterate until you find high willingness to pay, then prototype it in a landing page, connect to stripe, and consider charging a pre-order fee to test real-world demand.
