Isn't it sad that we need to re-write our resumes each time we apply for a different job just for a human to read it? There are so many times I have had the right keywords with a synonym - so it might get rejected but the meaning was the same. Crazy world we live in for sure. Yes agree totally, keywords are very important from an ATS perspective. The issue here is the pickiness of the different systems and the diversity of systems around. Having MS Office as a key skill is not going to match an ATS requirement of Advanced MS Excel. Match the descriptions in the job advertisement as closely as possible. Mention the skills you do NOT have in covering letter and say you are willing to upskill in these areas, this will be a tick box against an ATS check.

Unfortunately too many keywords on a CV can shout of desperation and can make a CV very cluttered looking. Nobody can be highly skilled at 25/30 skills! I'd recommend 8/9 maximum and substitute as needed for each role you apply for, including the most relevant skills each time.

In my experience there is usually way too much information on a CV. Streamline it and only include task based activities for your current role. For previous roles only include key achievements. Unless its an academic or medical CV, don't go over 2 pages for EU/US CV's. For some countries in Asia longer CV's may be acceptable.
