Why is neural network interpretability important for AI?
Neural networks are powerful models that can learn complex patterns from data and perform various tasks, such as image recognition, natural language processing, and self-driving cars. However, they are also often considered as black boxes, meaning that their internal logic and decision-making processes are not easily understood by humans. This lack of transparency can pose challenges and risks for AI applications, especially when they involve high-stakes domains, such as healthcare, finance, or law. Therefore, neural network interpretability, or the ability to explain how and why a neural network produces a certain output, is an important aspect of AI research and development.
