I actually don't have a "great" answer for this and I have LOVED looking through all of the other comments and ideas. I personally like things to be simple but also pleasant to the eye. I use a blind page on my website as a Graphic Design portfolio page. Set Up: I drop my best and favorite designs onto multiple 11x17 InDesign pages. I have them sectioned off into Categories: Business Cards, Flyers, Brochures, etc. It may not be as fun as some of the 3D things out there and it may not even be the best "program" to showcase your work but it worked out really well for what I needed and I thought I'd share in case there are other people who might be looking for something a little more simple and user-friendly.
