The old or the new andon system need in some time, someone to use the correct decision make approach to act properly when something need to done. OEE is a great non-biased way of evaluating your production efficiency. Using software (like GE Proficy or PARCview) effectively helps you take the subjectivity out of your OEE data, as well as give you live data screens and easy to access historical data. The quantifiable information collected with these types of software gives you reliable OEE data, and the foundation to use other lean tools more effectively.

Usually they work well on the shop floor as it is easy to explain and comprehend control charts. It may sound old school, but a run_of_ the_ mill control chart can tell you where the process capability stands, is the quality increasing or decreasing ?,and what are the historical trends?. They can sum up the whole story of the process with in first 10 seconds. The ease to understand and simplicity to produce these charts make them one of my favorites on monitoring process performance.

Six Sigma is a data driven improvement methodology following a defined process: define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC). It is necessary to distinguish when to go for Six Sigma. Most of the times, a Lean approach with e.g. A3 problem solving is good enough and delivers faster results. On mature processes, or complex root causes, however, Six Sigma can be valuable. Statistical process control (SPC) once setup helps then to identify process deviations fast. Balancing targets, efforts and results is key to be efficient and avoid overprocessing in your improvement activities, therefore choose your tools deliberately.

Six Sigma tools like MiniTab can be used to instantly get a clear picture of the Process Capability showing how controled the process is and how well it is centered. Utilizing Cp & Cpk of 1.33 or higher is an indication of a good process control capapility. MiniTab will also provide analysis of the percentage of potential fall out both from both lower & upper specifications.

While many of the tools can provide real-time analytics, the discipline must be in place to use and act on the information that comes from the data. The data should also be reviewed as defects/abnormalities occur to understand what data can be linked, therefore providing warning in the future and predicting and preventing, rather than finding and correcting.

After the corrent cenario simulated it's possible create new tests and cenários basing in simulation that represente a hundred porcent of the real situation and optimazated to take good decisions and investments
