Envelope encryption for large files combines the speed of symmetric encryption with with the extra security of asymmetric encryption. Data is encrypted with a symmetric key then the key is encrypted with a slower asymmetric root key. In other words, envelope encryption is that perfect combo of fast and secure for any large files.

I found interesting to talk about Azure Right Management Service as Encryption Service for the Microsoft Data Security Platform (Microsoft Purview). This service is known as robust and flexible, by applying data centric protection that will optimise how you will access to your data based on identity foundation. It means to be able to consume the data itself as item, you will need to authenticate. This service is connected to many features for end to end workload protection. Interesting isn’t ? Additionally, this service is providing granular permission control and activity monitoring during entire data lifecycle that keeps the data safe, and available only with the good set of permissions based on Company own classification policy.
