You may also address some corporate details such as costs and revenue forecasts in diagrams but they are less important after emotional buy-in has already happened.

I am lucky I learned from the best - I worked for Apple, in the Steve Jobs era. The optimal format of any presentation is easy to remember as '5 x 5 x 5'. Which means: maximum five slides, each with a picture, and maximum five lines per slide; each line has maximum five words. Anything more than that is overly complicated. Any line longer than five words is less effective and efficient, especially when it starts to wrap text. Font size 32 points or more. Remember: nobody likes to get long emails - I don't even read them - people also don't like forms of communication where a speakers reads out slides with lots of text with their back to the audience. Go further, if you are really good at this, by ONLY showing five pictures - then talk!

The reality is that it’s really hard to get everyone onboard all at once for a singular vision. So in the influential Kotter's Change Model, step two involves putting a team together to implement the change. I always find this step where you should incorporate those resistant team members in the process. Interestingly, include both the most senior influential individuals and the biggest naysayer. By doing so, you'll notice that your vision often becomes even stronger with all the brainstorming. You'll notice it really is the ideas of those who initially resist the change that can be the most beneficial.

If you want to get everyone on board of your 'vision train', it is in my experience best to first do a 1:1 round with a variety of people. That can be done informally, and it will help you determine if your story is relevant, accurate and if it resonates. Clarify, improve, shorten, polish. Once done, start to build a group of allies and confidants. Are there outliers? Any nay-sayers? People that are afraid they will be the victim of your ambition? Will someone try to torpedo your initiative? Fix that. Bring opponents 'into the tent'. Only then it is time to seek senior executive buy-in. Don't forget, senior executives will always verify if there is consensus. Nobody likes a loose cannon.

Get your team behind your vision and strategy. Clearly communicate the vision and how it benefits everyone. Involve the team in the planning process. This fosters ownership and addresses concerns. You must provide regular updates and celebrate milestones to maintain momentum. Open feedback is encouraged, and changes will be made as needed.
