What's your best tip for promoting your conference speaking online?

Since youtube is owned by google and videos appear in search, creating content on youtube is a good way to increase your discoverability. But do not underestimate the time it takes to learn how to create good video content.

I would certainly like to note that in my experience, Eventbrite, is also a wonderful platform and is utilized for many different areas of topic.

Spraking from a person in mainly higher education institutions globally I think that this is done extremely poorly. Everybody says ... I want to get quality feedback etc. (Often to progress the work and publish in a journal forum). BUT do they really WANT feedback? I often think not if the audience being physical, online and event hosted on repository is just so small it misses the mark. I think a lot should be flipped on its head with organisation level support assisting this information to be screened. It is a massive missed opportunity for sales, promotion and cost savings. The information is probably more interesting than normal advertising. Persenters have to take responsibility for dissemination and personal brand development too.

It’s very important to have a strong marketing team and to push your project through socials as much as you can. The more visibility, the better. Also, communicating with the community you are working in. You can push as much as you want virtually/ socially, but if the folks that live in that community don’t follow socially or are not connected in that way, they will miss the opportunity. Sometimes physicality, matters.

I found targeting the ''right'' conferences to be instrumental in obtaining invitations. Narrowing-down the focus from all IT & Management conferences at large and concentrating on identifying ones focusing on digital transformation & emerging technologies (my area of expertise) certainly seems to be working. Furthermore, it is important to be able to demonstrate how we are going to add unique value to the events. We are living in the age of people comfortably gaining access to information as it is available via a range of sources so what is the ''icing on the cake'' that we are able to offer? For example, offer to tailor your presentations to specific requirements/needs of the country where the conference is held.

One thing I have seen work quite well is what I call the "Trifecta of Absurdity". When marketing your presentation, use three things that appear to be in no way related to each other -- but you'll cover all of them in the talk. For example, if you're discussing Lead Procurement, repost the sign-up/registration link with a caption that is something along the lines of "Penguins, Spaceships, and Leads". Not only does this heighten curiosity (i.e. "What the heck do those things have to do with each other?!) but it organically keys the audience into how you will tie those elements together in your keynote.

To build your network effectively, start by showcasing your expertise on social media with engaging posts and interactions. Connect with like-minded professionals in online groups and communities, and don't forget to attend networking events where you can meet people face-to-face. Collaborate with influencers and thought leaders to expand your reach, and always focus on building genuine relationships by offering support and value to others. Remember, networking is about connecting with people on a human level, so be authentic and genuine in your interactions.

Social media can be a useful tool for more instant connections with your audience, but email newsletters are still king. Building a strong subscription list will ensure your message and your "product" is seen by the largest percentage of your network. The bigger your network, the higher your net worth. Make sure you always have a way for your audience to subscribe to your mailing list and never miss an opportunity to secure their email address and/or texting number for SMS messages. You can even create a way for a text message to be sent out with a link to your newsletter that's viewable online if a text is read before an email.

I’d like to add that it’s not about you! It’s about what’s in it for the person coming to hear you talk! Unfortunately/fortunately we care about ourselves and what’s in it for us. There’s little point talking about how great you are and qualifications you may have or years you’ve been doing the thing if you’re not going to give them a compelling reason to join! Everyone is Zoomed out these days so it’s harder than ever to attract your ideal clients to want to join you and listen to you talk online. Make it about them and not you! Good Luck ??

Follow this simple, three-step formula to showcase yourself: 1.) Share a post telling people what you're going to present at your speech. Bonus points for tagging the event/conference organizers so they can share with their network. 2.) Share evidence of you giving the presentation. Have someone in the crowd take a picture or a video, and show your performance. 3.) Share what you spoke about as a epilogue. "In case you didn't see my presentation, here are the top 3 things I covered." Before social media, exposure from your in-person speeches were relegated to those in the room. Now, you can transcend any geographic constraints and have everyone in your network see what you're doing. Just follow this three-step formula each time ??

Sometimes showcasing your portfolio can be overwhelming. I am in several spaces and sometimes when people look me up it can be too much. so I cut up my portfolio to my audience. I have found that when I drop the entire cow on the plate it can be too much. So over the years I select the pieces for the particular patron. there are persons who like steak. There are persons who like cow heel. When you have a portfolio that is sometimes too much it can be intimidating and confusing. So many times I would take the time to identify the audience and serve their palette.

Keep track of what is working and what isn't. This doesn't need to be through a complicated software tool, you can use platform analytics to track which posts get engagement on different platforms, and what type of posts get the most engagement. Then you can focus in on the things that work
