What's the key to a successful executive leadership transition?

In my experience what I have seen is change of Leadership needs proper assessment of capabilities, knowledge know how, capable to handle the portfolio and how has been the experience of the current set which the new Leader is in. There are instances where the assessment is conducted by the a competent committee has been quite successful as compared to an individual or a bunch individuals make a decision based on their knowledge. Secondly, the change in Leadership has to be informally made known to the team and prepare them to embrace & support instead of dumping a new person without any hint, Thirdly, proper transition to the Leadership above the position and to the Team, that would be managed by new Leader.

In my experience, fostering a culture of open-mindedness and inclusivity during an executive leadership transition can significantly contribute to its success. Embracing diverse perspectives and encouraging cross-functional collaboration allows for a broader range of ideas to surface.

It's is important to take into consideration the view point / opinion of all stakeholders. Having clarity around vision of organization and assessment of interpretation of vision by incumbent and new leadership is the key.

Talking about their family, how and where the grew up, hobbies, and passions away from the office are important.
