Also, don't limit yourself to the people who are in direct contact with the problem you are trying to solve. Inviting folks from diverse areas in my extended team has helped reveal hidden assumptions that my immediate team had taken for granted, as well as, provided us with an even greater pool of experiences to draw from for potential solutions.

One aspect of CPS that I'm really fond of is to search today's solutions for the problems of tomorrow. Keep a record - browser bookmarks, an Excel spreadsheet, a post-it - of any processes, equipment, tidbits, etc. that you think can come handy for something in the future. When a new problem arises, you now have a great 'catalog' of possible solutions to look at and brainstorm to.
