From my perspective TDD is more like software development principle. I don't know how it goes for other, but I felt uncomfortable when I tried to follow that approach. That's not a bad thing as you brain is learning at that point. I would not say it save you from errors, but it helps to avoid common mistakes and be more certain about outcome.

BDD helps to improve collaboration between developers, QAs and product owner/manager. I mean their need communicate more and be more aware about the feature in order to refine the behavior scenario. You can also treat those specifications as documentation, but it doesn't not necessarily mean that you can replace the actual documentation.

TDD is mainly for developers while BDD and ATDD are suitable for involving non-technical stakeholders. TDD is more granular while BDD and ATDD are more high-level. TDD can help write cleaner code but it can be time-consuming; BDD and ATDD can help deliver more user-centric software but they can be ambiguous.

Personally, I see those as key factors: - time/effort cost that needs in order to put the approach into practice - lack of documentation/communication [BDD] - common errors/every update cause new issues pop ups [TDD] - unclear requirements/the implementation doesn't much what was expected [ATDD] It always worth to try and then decide based on the result. There're different teams/people/habits and it can affect the overall expirience.
