What are your most effective strategies for motivating yourself to reach commission milestones?

For me, how much money can be made. Understand the Commission plan. It’s designed to drive behavior. Simply do as many transactions as you can that drive revenue and commissions. Avoid getting caught up in Rankers. Rankers are usually not aligned with commission payouts. Offer all services that generate a commission regardless if they are not on a Ranker.

Write your goals down daily. This will give you constant reminders if your vision. If your are doing multiple things set time limits for each task.

In my experience, SMART goals are more than an acronym; they're a blueprint for action. By integrating AI analytics, we can not only set achievable targets but also predict market fluctuations, allowing for real-time goal adjustment that keeps the team motivated.

One thing that has always helped me stick to my SMART goals, was understanding the "why" behind these goals. For example, I'm very clear on why achieving each goal or milestone will help my overall career plan. I will make each goal specific enough that it's outcome will then lead me to the next bigger step.

I make sure I enjoy what I do. I take up a job because it excites me and challenges me to become better in every possible way. My work involves day to day and project based sales.

Little drops of water make an ocean. Well, that's a philosophy for accomplishing anything big in life. Breaking down the big problem, into smaller, outcome-driven and measurable tasks and accomplishing each one of them will add to the big picture in due time, that will be highly rewarding, as well as satisfying.

To me, breaking down goals is akin to modular programming in software development. Each small task is like a code module, individually tested and then integrated, which makes the overall goal more manageable and reduces the risk of late-stage failures.

The biggest motivator for all of us is progress However small it is, seeing progress pushes us to go farther. With that in mind it is a great idea to take a very big goal i.e. Break into 10 new accounts and turn that into smaller and easier to attain goals that stack up towards the big goal i.e. Identify 20 new accounts, find 5 new contacts per account, reach out to 20 new contacts a day Each of those are small goals that can be achieved each day, that will lead to the big goal

For achieving targets you must not be stressed out at any time and must be thought out of the box ideas. You do need to be hardworking you have to be smart, and break down the target in various ideas within yourself... Sales target or achieving commission target you cannot rely on old methods if your product didn't appeal as much as your client requirement...Go for maximum persons at once reach out to masses and then target one potential other will follows...

In my career I have knocked 65,000 plus doors in the solar industry. I tracked all of my numbers. I tracked how many doors I knocked, how many people I talked to, how many appointments I set, how many ‘sat appointments’ I had, how many closes I attained, and how much commission I made per deal. This helped figure out how many doors I needed to knock in order to get a sale. For example: Knocked 100 doors in a day Talked to 20 people Set 10 appointments Sat with 5 of them Closed one. Made roughly $5k. That means I would close one deal for every 100 doors. This process became a science. I could literally control my income based on how many doors I knocked. And this method can be used with any metric that is tracked.

Train your mind for self-motivation as that's the only weapon a Sales people can have. As in sales whatever your achievement today that is the history tomorrow. So keeping yourself self motivated is the only way to grow and be creative in the field will help you. Don't expect any reward or motivations from others. ''YOU CAN BE THE BEST SELF MOTIVATOR FOR YOURSELF.''

This is something I was terrible at early in my sales career, I simply thought "on to the next one" without ever taking a moment to reflect on what I had accomplished up until this point Little rewards also have a positive feedback loop for yourself, thus leading to more goals being achieved and more little rewards for yourself occurring

Its also about the reflection - the reward can give you time to reflect on what went well, and to value the achievement. I was at a music event recently, where it was a friends bands first ever arena gig. The lead singer told the crowd I have had the habit of not enjoying and taking in the moment, today I am going to do that. He really did embrace how amazing the achievement of playing there was, often taking moments to soak in the atmosphere and truly reward himself for the achievement.

This is a huge practice every sales person should implement. When people celebrate their success they release endorphins, those endorphins help mood, motivation, etc. if one never celebrates their wins, they never release any endorphins for their progress and therefor burnout and quit. I celebrate, not just my ‘sales’, but my efforts as well. As we all know there will be days, weeks, and even months (depending on the type of sale) where there is no sales. But if you reward yourself for making the 300 dials everyday, or knocking the 100 doors, or doing everything you could in that appointment, then you still have the feeling of accomplishment. And the sales will come. My reward to myself is spending quality time with loved ones

Sharing with others can truly make you more disciplined - not only does it make achievement feel greater when others witness and give positive reinforcement, it can help you gain valuable insights. There is often more than one path - and seeking support can help you see that additional path.

When you stop growing, you stop learning, when you stop learning, you stop earning. No one is ever too good to ask for feedback or constructive criticism. If I ever lose a deal, I always ask the client; Where could I improve? Is there anything I could have done differently to win your business? Is this price related, confusion, or are you putting a hold on this project altogether? If you are putting a hold on this, why?’ Not only can constructive criticism make you more potent in sales going forward, you can often learn what you did wrong with that prospect and potentially save a sale!

One thing I've found helpful when seeking feedback and support is that you shouldn't be afraid or timid to reach out to those that you respect. One of my favorite quotes is, "it is everyone's first time living" when I approach these situations where the outcome is unknown, have an open and growth mindset is extremely important to hear the feedback with open ears.

Visualisation is a powerful tool - it was what David Beckham claimed was his success to scoring an important freekick that got England qualified against Greece in the last minute. If you can truly focus on how things go, then you can start seeing the path. Rener Gracie in his book The 32 Principles talks about the river principle, seeing and continuing your path.

As I mentioned earlier, I am very big on the power of the mind. Visualization is a practice I do almost daily. When you act, and more importantly feel, like you’ve already attained a specific goal or object, you carry a certain type of swagger or energy. Customers, employees, superiors, can feel that energy. It’s not arrogance, it’s a type of optimistic confidence that people want to be around. And when you carry that energy, you find yourself on a winning streak that tends to never end.

Visualization for me goes beyond mental imagery; it involves data visualization tools that can project future success based on current metrics. This scientific approach to visualization reinforces motivation with tangible, data backed insights.

I call it "Visioneering". Our mind works in images. The more vivid the image is, the easier the work becomes, no matter what obstacles you face. If you are truly present during visioneering, your mind can't tell the difference.

Purpose is our compass, guiding us through challenges. In a tech-centric world, it's essential to remember the human element. Our commissions aren't just profits; they fund initiatives that drive social impact, adding a layer of motivation that transcends monetary gains.

Purpose is the motivational enabler - I believe in understanding why you are doing something, and I don't mean an arbitrary objective. I mean the real why - for example: If I achieve this then it enables me to give my child the experience of a lifetime in Lapland. So brining that true why is my motivational enabler. Once Motivation enables, you move on to discipline, and I like to share my goal, reasons why and objectives with people. This creates an external push to keep you disciplined. Additionally, I see the discipline as the ability to create freedom. Nothing keeps me going as much as my reasons why, and my discipline to create freedom.

As its been said life is meaningless if a person lives without any purpose. Same applies in every activity an individual does. Every activity a person does have some purpose behind it. A salary without a commission is meaningless and no efforts made to reach that goal is a biggest crime anyone can do in a professional life. Sales is all about being positive in all phases of life. Be it in any situation, obstacles or setbacks of life. The winner will be the one who takes up the challenge without any negativity in mind and keep on taking corrective actions till the goal is achieved.

In my perspective taking action is what makes you motivated no matter how small the action is, as taking small actions consistently result in higher motivation to take even bigger actions. And always try to stay relevant, concise and share with your customers the purpose of your solution on how you will make their life/ their job better. Build rapport and gain trust of your customers by always educating yourself on the newest trends to help them solve their problems. Another key is to plan and know how to prioritize your accounts based on urgency, solutions, etc… that should be done daily. And always when you want to achieve a goal write that goal with a specific measurable target for higher commissions. Finally never give up!

It is important to educate and help your client solve a problem or protect them from a future worry or problem. You need to make it make sense and make it about them. Pay attention early on. Your clients don’t care about you or if you make the sale they care about how it benefits them. Take care of your customer and your commission will be taken care of for you. Build rapport, people buy from people they like, use encouragement but don’t be pushy. When they say no, ask what they don’t like about it and take another angle often it’s something that can be overcome. Also after each deal think what you could have done better or different improve ! Lastly have fun and enjoy what you are doing. Celebrate every victory or good deal.

Every sales guru was once a beginner, just like you. Highly motivated salespeople are not just after money or reputation but are driven by the feeling of victory and the rush of adrenaline they experience with every closed deal. If you aspire to become a salesperson, aim for the excitement that comes with it. Let it be the driving force behind your success and stay positive at all times. Remember, you have what it takes!
