Unless a BIM tool will allow full IFC collaboration it cannot be considered as being collaborative. The insistence of some BIM manager that all design team members MUST be using exactly the same software is not even sensible.

It's an important facility that's must in this field. If we can't connect to different phases of the project, then it will not be efficient.

Having always design buildings in 3D and BIM for nearly 30 years (Architrion, Microstation, Revit and Vectorworks) I have settled on Vectorworks as having, for me, the best user experience. As a tool it allows me to do more as a solo practitioner than any of the others. Being able to use one piece of software for everything is more time and cost effective than having to use a few. Vectorworks also integrates well with the NBS Chorus software that I use for all specifications.

Although another software seller has stated that Vectorworks is not BIM and also only for small projects I must inform you that they are very wrong! Vectorworks other main advantage is that it is native to MacOS and I've only used Apple Devices for 20 years. There is no reason on planet Earth to buy anything that requires a Micro$oft operating system. The reason? The practice I was working for was forced to move to Micro$oft DOS when the British operating systems such as Apricot's were bullied (apparently that is a 'standard' business practice) out of existence!
