Some common protocols and services that will crop up time and time again is: DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SMB, DHCP, VPN, and many others. Take time to learn Active Directory well, it is worth it. Keep updated with cloud services, Azure and AWS are commonly used!

Security has to be baked into everyone’s job. Even if you have a dedicated security team, you can’t have administrators of the network or other systems creating gaps. Knowing how to effectively harden systems and deploy network tools that do not have default settings and known vulnerabilities is a must.

Alle Punkte wie unter Netzwerkdesign beschrieben und seine Archetektur unterschreibe ich zu 100%, wobei ich beim umrechnen von IPv4 auf IPv6 manchmal zu lange brauche. Zumindest IPv4 Subnetting muss ohne Hilfe aus dem Kopf erfolgen k?nnen ohne Tools, denn hier f?ngt das Verst?ndnis der Netzwerke und deren Aufbau an. Lieber viele Router im eigenen Netz und dieses gut abgesichert, als Alles unter der beliebten Maske /24, wobei ich in meinem Alter immer noch lernf?hig bin. :D

Sometimes projects fail not because the organization don’t have resources to execute them properly, but a poor design in the first place itself before the execution.

Ich muss zugeben das es sehr wichtig ist, aber gerade Microsoft hat gezeigt das man au?er Powershell nichts braucht. Skripte sind das was man zur effizienten Arbeit braucht, auch ich scheue mich nicht ins Powershell Buch zu sehen oder Web-Seiten zu besuchen um besser zu werden. Das Cloud-Computing im kommen ist und alles auch über die Cloud gesteuert werden kann, sehe ich dagegen eher als Gefahr als einen Segen an. Hier sollte eine gute Security Strategie mithelfen um es Hackern schwerer zu machen. Auf das letzte bisschen Effizienz leg ich wohl nicht so den Wert, auf Sicherheit eher schon (evtl. Paranoia)

Meiner Erfahrung nach sind VM′s das Beste was die Computertechnik in den letzten Jahren hervorbrachte. Das Schwerste am Anfang ist eventuell das Verst?ndnis der VSwitche und warum Netzwerkschnittstellen wegfallen k?nnen und auch werden. VM in der VM laufen zu lassen beruht auf einem Netzwerkdesign das jeden Admin besser schlafen l?sst. Netzwerk-Virtualisierung und SDN wird ein fester Bestandteil meiner t?glichen Arbeit bleiben um remote bei ernsthaften Problemen schnell helfen zu k?nnen.

Dokumentation ist das A und O. Dies ist die Grundlage wiederkehrende Angriffe schnell und pr?zise bek?mpfen zu lassen, besonders wenn man gerade mal 4000 Km entfernt im Urlaub ist. Das erschreckende was ich erleben durfte ist das viele keine ausreichenden Kenntnisse im OSI Modell haben, aber mit nur TCP/IP trumpfen wollen. Durch offene Diskussionen habe ich solche Punkte oft entsch?rfen k?nnen, indem ich bewusst machte wie wichtig gerade die Protokolle und ihre einzelnen Ebenen sind. Auch gerade deshalb ist ein wichtiger Punkt das Netzwerk-Design. Das die Cloud besser und billiger ist, konnte nicht immer aufrecht erhalten werden. Wobei eine zweite Standleitung bisher nie verkehrt war mit Dokumentation fürs Intranet unter Standorten
