In my experience, one of the most efficient ways to build documentation is leveraging Power Automation and SharePoint lists to track changes. Once it’s set up the tracking is on and easy to identify whom and when changes occurred.

I also love to add the file path to where my documentation lives within the footer of the doc for future editing. To this point, I discourage multiple attachments and multiple versions of the same document (I.e. TrainingFinal_2.doc) Use track changes and build on the same document when you can for version control.
