With certain cameras, you have to make sure that they have the right shutter speed to film high-speed action. The shutter speed is what allows you to edit the footage to the pace needed in whatever project you're working on

In my experience filming at 60fps or 120 fps will get you clean motion for most moving human subjects. For extremely fast subjects (race cars) you could experiment with higher shutter speeds, but often natural motion blur is more pleasing to the eye. You also want an excellent autofocus system.

In my opinion all start with the shutter speed. In most of cases I don't wanna blur the footage. My basic calculation is => shutter speed = Fps * 2. After that I balance aperture and ISO so I can get a satisfied footage quality. Other advice is to work with shutter speed and Fps multiples, depending in what you want to do.

If you intend to use a shot in slow motion, you must shoot at an fps of at least 60. Preferably 120, 240, or higher. The higher the frame rate, the more buttery smooth the motion will be and the less blur you will have. Another option for slowing down movements that are relatively slow already such as a person nodding, is to use optical flow in Adobe Premiere. Optical flow adds frames and uses AI to guess what goes into these frames.

Even if I’m not going to slow it down in post production, I always film action shots at the highest frame rate possible without compromising resolution or quality. That way you have more frames to use for stabilization in post or if you want to slow it down for a slow motion sequence.

if you want to create a slow-motion effect, you can’t have your audience seeing only the 24 frames per second that your camera has captured. Say you half it for the effect, then you end up with 12 frames per second during playback. Since this is below the rate required to create a sense of motion, the frames begin appearing to the human mind as individual images. You have to capture more than the average 24 or 30 frames per second in order to be able to slow it during playback. So when your camera is set to a high speed capture rate, such as 72 frames per second or 120 frames per second, you have way more images to distribute over a large number of seconds - and that is how you create the perception of slowed motion.
