What strategies can you use to narrow down your career choices?

Pursue relevant education and training, experiment with different roles, and consider lifestyle factors. Seek guidance from mentors or career counselors for personalized advice.

When making my career change from accounting to communications, I focused on finding roles that leaned into my interests. I identified one to two items or responsibilities I really enjoyed and looked for roles that allowed me to spend more time doing those things. Working toward a career change can feel overwhelming, especially if you're making a complete 180. But what worked for me was to lean into what I did like and make mental notes of the work I didn't enjoy so I could steer clear of it. Sometimes, the best way to know what to do is through a process of elimination. Give something a try, assess what you like and don't like, then make your next move accordingly.

Do research on companies that align with your values, update your information on their career website, and setup job alerts at those companies.
